Milman & Associates completed the design of this modern, state of the art gas power plant at Mazeppa, 70km south of Calgary, Alberta. The project required close cooperation between an international team of engineers, designers and manufacturers, namely Italy’s Gruppo AB (www.gruppoab.it/en/); EPS-AB Energy, their Canadian counterpart and cogeneration equipment supplier; H.H.Angus, electrical designer; and Milman & Associates. We oversaw all aspects of the structural and civil design and architectural work. The building’s structure, wall panels, platforms for equipment, and walkways were designed by Milman & Associates in Canada, but the manufacturing of the steel frame and all wall panels was done in Milan, Italy. Delivery and installation was also carried out by Gruppo AB in Mazeppa. The entire plant was erected on 120 piles, including enormous foundations for five exceptionally heavy gas generators brought in from Germany. The project presented obvious technical and logistical difficulties, but the building was erected without incident, to the complete satisfaction of the client.
