Cameco’s fuel and power facility in Port Hope, Ontario is planning to undergo extensive upgrades in the near future. As part of the engineering team of SNC-Lavalin Inc., Milman & Associates Limited conducted a preliminary framework design for various buildings and structures for the planned redevelopment of the entire nuclear refinery plant in Port Hope. The scope of structural design work involved developing structural layouts of each building and structure which formed the basis for the cost analysis for the project. Our team designed new laboratory and storage buildings, over 200 m of retaining walls, and over 300 m of new pipe racks. In addition, we designed extensive structural revamp for the main existing building. Many existing structures also had to be reinforced due to the installation of new bridge cranes and mezzanines.
